International artists Abbas Akhavan (Iran/Canada) and Tobias Collier (UK) have been in residence at House 44 - as part of a programme now known as A.i.R Dubai - in Al Bastakiya, Dubai with Emirati artists Shamma Al Amri, Shaikha Al Mazrou and Hind Bin Demaithan.

For Art Week, House 44 was transformed into an exhibition space showcasing the artistic outcomes of the residencies, alongside works produced through previous Delfina Foundation residencies with Basel Abbas + Ruanne Abou-Rahme (Palestine) courtesy of Rose Issa Projects, Rana Begum (UK), Nisrine Boukhari (Syria) in collaboration with AllArtNow, and Nathaniel Rackowe (UK).

Meanwhile at Art Dubai, two of House 44's residents Abbas Akhavan and Shaikha al Mazrou were commissioned to make new works as part of Art Dubai Projects, the fair's not-for-profit programme, which also featured two former Delfina Foundation residents Hrair Sarkissian and Oraib Toukan. Works by the remaining House 44 residents were on view at stand A4 with Tashkeel, one of our partners on House 44.

Opening Day
The opening of House 44 coincided with the launch of Sikka Art Fair, which was also located in Al Bastakiya and aimed to promote Emirati and UAE-based artists. House 44's private view on evening of 12th March 2011 was also in association with Tashkeel's private view at House 10 in Al Bastakiya.
